Reading time ( words)

I-Connect007 is proud to welcome Emmy Ross and Albert Liu to the I-Connect007 family. They have been working alongside the rest of the team on some interesting new projects since January and we are excited to formally introduce them to our reader community.

Emmy_Ross.jpgEmmy is returning to the PCB industry and joining the I-Connect007 sales team. Previously the Director of Exhibitions for the SMTA, Emmy worked with local chapters to create and execute tradeshows and conferences to build support and education in the industry. She is very excited to be back and working with fun and genuine people. Emmy values the importance of building and maintaing relationships, which she can attribute to her success in events, sales and marketing.

Albert_Liu.jpgAlbert will also be joining the IConnect007 sales team. Albert is new to the PCB industry, but he has a background working in the electronics industry and has always had a fascination with all things related to tech. Albert is enjoying his involvement in such an exciting industry. Previously, he worked at BlackBerry as a marketing intern where he was involved with the launch of the PRIV by BlackBerry. Albert assisted in the marketing campaign by setting up demonstration booths and supporting in content creation for the website and internal sales training. Currently, Albert is finishing his last year at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada, as a Communication major and Business Administration minor.

Both Emmy and Albert are looking forward to meeting everyone at the upcoming IPC APEX EXPO Show in Las Vegas.

The last time I was in this space, we were busy preparing for our extensive coverage of IPC APEX EXPO, so now I have the honors of compiling the news from the week following the event. We often use the phrase “busy news week” in these compendiums, but this week I have metrics—25% more news items published this week at I-Connect007 than our weekly average. All the more reason to read the website newsfeeds and newsletters, but also all the more reason for me to bring you the best of the best from the past week.

A perennial and yet irregular category on the popular game show Jeopardy is “potpourri.” My dad, as I was growing up, pronounced the word as “pot-poury.” It wasn’t until I was a sophomore in college that my girlfriend’s mom—who had a penchant for a soupcon of French euphemism in her tête-à-têtes—pronounced the word properly: “po-pu-ree.” Such are the risks of growing up just a bit rural.

This week, we have a variety of news and articles to share, and it’s all positive. We have a new president, and he’s pledging to help American businesses. December PCB sales were up 4.5% over the same period a year ago. Atotech is just about ready to launch an IPO. Sunstone has tweaked its free CAD tool, PCB123, to make it even easier for designers to receive their Gerber files. And columnist John Watson breaks down what we all learned during the chaos that was 2020.
