Specialty Coating Systems to Host Webinar
June 26, 2015 | Specialty Coating Systems (SCS)Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) is pleased to announce that it will host an educational webinar entitled, “Ultra-thin Conformal Coatings: Enhancing Component Protection and Reliability” on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. ET | 11:00 a.m. PT. The webinar will be conducted by Rakesh Kumar, PhD, SCS Vice President of Technology, and Tim Dietrich, Sr. Customer Service Manager, and will be available for registration at SCSwebinars.com.
As demands for performance and reliability in the electronics, aerospace, medical device, automotive and defense industries continue to increase, engineers are challenged to find protection solutions for components that are ever-increasing in their complexity and decreasing in their dimension. For a number of years, conformal coatings have offered a level of protection to components, but many simply do not offer the level that is required for today’s and tomorrow’s complex technologies.
This webinar will provide an overview of Parylene conformal coatings and how they differentiate themselves from other coating materials. Typically applied in thicknesses from angstroms to tens of microns, Parylenes meet design challenges by providing conformal coatings that are ultra-thin, transparent and inert. Examples of applications that have benefited from the properties of Parylene include circuit card assemblies, MEMS, LEDs, sensors, lab-on-a-chip devices, pacemakers, stents, electrosurgical tools, cochlear and ocular implants, neurostimulation devices, and elastomers, to name only a few.
In addition to an overview of Parylene, advances in adhesion technologies for challenging substrate materials also will be discussed. AdPro Plus® and AdPro Poly® have been specifically developed to address adhesion challenges and are demonstrated with evaluation data.
The webinar also will review recent advances in Parylene technologies, including a review of microRESIST® Antimicrobial Parylene Technology, designed to aid in the reduction of healthcare-associated infections that can be caused by both surface and implant devices.
Device and component manufacturers over a broad industry spectrum seek key competitive advantages through the use of conformal coatings, with the driving force to enhance one or more key properties. Included may be electrical and barrier properties, dry film lubricity, stabilization of delicate microstructures or biocompatibility. As materials and applications continue to advance, Parylene coatings are increasingly being used to enhance the reliability of innovative technologies.
